White Lotus Dragon and Lion Dance is the only not for profit team in the Portland, Oregon area. We came together as a group of inspirational young individuals that wanted a way to not only benefit local charities, but also to spread cultural awareness, while bonding as a group and having fun in the process.

When I first joined GĐPT Minh Quang, I was about 6 years old and was a really shy person.  Everyone I knew there was at a comfortable level talking to new people, and there was me... too scared to open my mouth. So I left GĐPT and returned 10 years later seeing that I wasn't the only one that changed.  GĐPT renamed their lion dance team and this time they wanted to go big.

When I saw my first lion dance performance, I was amazed how the dancers were so agile and synchronized with each other.  Realizing that I now have the chance to be part of a great organization, I hesitantly approached the current GĐPT main officer; Tam.  At first I was really nervous to ask Tam if whether or not I was eligible to join the team, but Tam was really kind enough to give me an opportunity.  Throughout weeks of learning the basics of lion dancing and its technique, I am now the head of the purple lion along with my amazing partner Bao who is my tail.

I am proud that I am an official member of the White Lotus Dragon & Lion Dance Organization.  I couldn't ask for a better team than this, everyone welcomes each other with open arms and going around to multiple performances with the team has made me realize that this is something I will value for the rest of my life. I still have a lot to learn about lion dancing, but what I do know is that with guidance from my superior teammates Nhan, Tam, Elvis, Kevin, Timothy, Bao, Thien, Steven, and David; I will do my absolute best to make them proud
