Lion Dancers Portland, Oregon on High Poles - Jongs

      • White Lotus Dragon & Lion Dance Organization is the only not for profit lion dance team in the Portland, Oregon area. We came together as a group of inspirational young individuals that wanted a way to not only benefit local charities, but also to spread cultural awareness, while bonding as a group and having fun in the process.
      • We do many performances in the Portland area every year for Lunar New Year, conventions, grand opening celebrations, weddings, birthdays, and general charity events.

ABOUT US - Team Member Profiles

  • Birthday: July 23, 1995

I first joined the White Lotus team not knowing anything about Lion Dancing. However, the effort and sincerity of the leaders and other team members have made this an everyday passion. What I find most interesting is that our practice sessions involve not only conditioning and harnessing our skills, but also bonding and strengthening the relationship amongst the members of the team. I sincerely feel like I am a part of a new family. My parents immigrated here in the 1980’s in search of a better life. But as a result, had a child (me), who has grown up in a society with a completely different culture. So practicing and performing the Hok San style for the local Asian-American community, I feel like has really brought me back to my family’s heritage. Although I am a full time college student and am involved in many other hobbies, I hope to continue my passion in lion dancing and being a part of the White Lotus Lion Dance team for the rest of my life.
